Ready for a new DIY home decor idea? Let’s get started!

I have quite a few rolling pins in my collection, so I selected three to create a rolling pin display for my home decor collection.

For this project, I wanted the rolling pins to have a beautiful spring design so I used the IOD Transfer Collection – Fronds Botanical.

This collection includes four pages of beautiful botanicals in various shapes and sizes.

I decided to use one large sprig of greenery, which I cut into three different sections.

First, I peeled the white backing off the transfer.

Then, I laid the transfer on the rolling pin and wrapped it all the way around.

Since I was working with a rounded surface, I used painter’s tape to hold the transfer in place while wrapping it around the pin.

When you wrap the transfer around the rolling pin, it might overlap a bit. But don’t worry, overlapping transfers is perfectly fine.

Next, I used a transfer tool to firmly press the entire image on the transfer onto the rolling pin.

Then, after pressing the entire transfer with my tool, I peeled off the clear transfer paper, leaving the beautiful image on the surface of the pin.

How pretty is that?

Next, I repeated those same steps with my other two rolling pins.

I knew I couldn’t do a rolling pin DIY without painting the handles.

Chalk Paint DIY Ideas

I used Dixie Belle Chalk Paint in the color Weeping Willow for this project.

This color looked beautiful with the botanical transfer colors.

Using a STAALMEESTER Fitched Artist Brush I painted one coat of Chalk Paint onto all six of the handles.

Once the paint dried, I used a sanding tool to lightly sand the handles. I opted for Chalk Paint because sanding it down creates a beautiful vintage antique look.

Then, I used a wet wipe to remove all the excess dust.

Next, to give this piece a more worn and antique look, I applied one coat of Fusion Antiquing Glaze to the entire rolling pin.

Then, I took a dry paper towel and wiped off the excess glaze.

I vote for with antiquing glaze! That looks so vintage and looks great with the transfers! I have one like that that I use. Guess I’m going to get a new one to use and transform my current roller! Thanks for an easy and quick makeover. ❤️
