I discovered this metal piece—possibly a tire rim—and I immediately knew I could create something unique with it!

Then, I found this rusty round metal pan and had the idea to combine the two pieces.

The pan was extremely rusty, so the first thing I did was seal it. I used the Dixie Belle Clear Coat in Flat.

This will ensure that the rust does not flake off onto the items you place inside the pan.

Using a Zebra Palm Pro Brush, I applied a coat of the sealant to the entire pan.

As you can see, it dries with a clear, flat finish.

I needed to add a little bit more surface area to actually combine the pan and the tire rim, so I found this small wood square in my stash.

I used a combination of Gorilla Glue and hot glue to hold the piece in place.

DIY Tip: When trying to glue pieces together, you can use both Gorilla Glue and hot glue. The Gorilla Glue will permanently keep the items together, while the hot glue will dry quickly to hold your item in place while the Gorilla Glue dries.

First, I applied gorilla glue to the middle of the tire rim.

Then, I applied a hot glue in the same area.

Then, I placed the wood square down on the glue and continued the process on the top side.

Next, I applied Gorilla Glue to all 4 corners of the wood square.

Then, I applied hot glue in between each of the Gorilla Glue dots.

After that, I flipped the rusty round pan over so that the bottom of the pan was facing up.

Then, I flipped over the tire rim and centered it onto the pan.

Once the glue was dry, I was ready to style it in my home.

I know this style is not everyone’s taste, but it was perfect for my living room!

I styled it with some other thrifted items and set it on a beautiful thrifted book.
