Transform Your Space: The Ultimate Fall-Inspired Bedroom Makeover Guide

It is time to trade in summer’s light and airy vibes for something a bit more cozy, warm, and inviting. And what better place to begin this transformation than in the heart of your home – your bedroom?

With nature’s palette transitioning to rich hues of burnt orange, deep reds, and mustard yellows, it’s only fitting that your personal space follows suit. Imagine snuggling under soft blankets, sipping on warm drinks, and immersing yourself in an autumn atmosphere.

So, gather your favorite throw pillows, unearth those forgotten scented candles, toss on your favorite cozy sweater, and prepare to transform your home for Fall!

DIY Headboard Leaf Garland

Below is a list of the items you will need to recreate this project:

  • Faux Fall Leaves – used as a base layer for the garland
  • Faux Fall Florals – used as filler in the garland
  • Wire Cutters

The top of my headboard has a small shelf so I wanted to find a way to decorate this area.

I purchased the florals from the floral section at Hobby Lobby! I recommend purchasing when they are on sale for 40% off.

I like to purchase long-stem florals so you have more options when layering them together. You can always cut the stems to be shorter using wire cutters if needed!

I recommend using jute twine, if you want to connect your long-stems together. This ensures that the garland does not fall apart.

I loved that all of the branches were wired, making it easy to fluff the leaves up.

Once I set up a base layer and fluffed up the leaves, I went in and added other colorful fall florals.

I always recommend buying plenty of extra floral pieces to use around your room for other fall floral embellishments.

Updating Wall Artwork

I chose to refresh the artwork in my room to align with the autumn season.

Following my search for wall decor that complimented my home decor style, I placed an order for a 4-foot canvas from the Etsy shop, Country Lane Living! CountryLaneLiving – Etsy

I love the way that the artwork blended so well with the rest of my fall decor.

Refreshing My Bed For Fall

To keep this an easy and inexpensive project, I kept my current bedding on the bed and updated the blankets on top to match my fall style.

I started by adding a cream thrifted blanket as the first layer.

Then, I added a textured muslin blanket from the Loomia. I loved how this blanket was a different shade of beige on either side.

Throw pillows are another easy way of updating your bedding for the season.

I purchased my throw pillow covers from Ikea.

Lastly, you can find this pillow that I designed on my website here: Dropcloth Pocket Lumbar Pillow Cover

This pillow can be a year-round decor item. You can change out the seasonal embellishments in the pockets for all the different seasons. How neat is that?

Styling Shelves For Fall

I started by going around and removing all of my year-round items in the room.

For my Fall 2023 seasonal style:

  • I replaced the florals in the hanging purse with fall-colored faux florals.
  • I added the hanging mustard-colored blanket to add a pop of color.
  • Then, I replaced the image hanging on the tapestry with a fall-inspired print.
  • And lastly, I removed the hanging greenery in the frame with fall florals.

Seasonal Decorating Hack: When you put year-round items away for the season, place them inside a drawer in your room so you can easily put them back in the correct spot when the season is over.
