9 Unique Home Decor Pieces from my Thrifting Adventure

1. Amber Glass Bottles

Amber glass jars are one of those things I rarely pass up—I use them all over my house! This larger one is extra special, and I plan to style it on its side to show off the beautiful cursive lettering on the glass. As for the smaller ones I thrifted, I’ll probably list them in sets of three on the website soon!

Ways to style:

  • I created a wooden shelf and styled it with amber glass jars—check it out here: How To DIY Amber Jars Into Home Decor
  • Large jars can double as beautiful vases filled with greenery or florals. Or, style them on their own—the rich amber color makes them pop in any vignette!

2. Ironstone Pieces

I found these beautiful Ironstone pieces while out thrifting—and I was genuinely shocked to see this one just sitting there! I flipped it over and spotted the Ironstone stamp—I was so excited.

Some pieces still have their original lids, while others are missing them—but honestly, both are perfect for styling. The lidded ones look great on shelves, and the ones without lids make gorgeous bright white vases. Add a little greenery or florals, and the contrast against the white is just stunning!

Ways to style:

  • Remove the lid and add pink hydrangeas or fresh greenery.
  • Set it on top of a stack of vintage books for extra charm.
  • Style it alongside other white pieces to create a clean, cohesive look.

3. Torn & Textured Vintage Books

Give me all the old, falling-apart books. The texture, the worn pages, the perfectly faded colors—everything about them adds the best vintage farmhouse vibes.

Believe it or not, these gems are harder to find than you’d think. Most people toss them out… but not us. We rescue them, style them, and give them a second life!

Ways to style:

  • Style old books on a shelf with a vase or container placed on top for added height and texture.
  • Or, create a charming vignette by stacking them with small figurines placed on top or nestled alongside. Their worn pages and faded covers add the perfect touch of vintage character to any space.

4. Blue & White Pieces

You know I’ll never pass up blue and white when I’m out thrifting. I spotted this beautiful Delft floral canister and knew it had to come home with me.

Now, I don’t always love Flow Blue pieces—I know, I know, you all always give me grief for that—but this time, I grabbed a few to try and style around the house. We’ll see how it goes!

5. Vintage Wooden Brushes

I come across these wooden and wire brushes all the time while thrifting, and I never pass them up. I love laying them flat and tucking in a bit of greenery or slipping in a vintage photo between the bristles. It’s such a simple, creative way to layer items and add texture to a vignette that really makes a statement.

Ways to style:

  • Layer these wooden and wire brushes with other items tucked into the bristles—think vintage photographs, sprigs of greenery, or even small figurines. Style them on a shelf or atop a dresser alongside other vintage pieces to create a unique, textured look full of charm and character.

6. Bundles of Yarn & String

I’m always on the lookout for old bundles of yarn at the thrift store—perfect for styling around my home and also for selling in sets on my website! They add such a cozy, textured element to any space.

Ways to style:

  • These yarn bundles are perfect for styling in a vignette on a shelf or dresser.
  • Use colored yarn spools to add a fun pop of color to your space, bringing in texture and personality.
  • Most spools like a hole in top so can also be used a unique vase. You can stick springs of greenery in them and even little trees at Christmas time.

7. Wooden Drawer Pulls

I’m obsessed with these wooden drawer pulls! I found them at the thrift store and plan to group them in sets of 20 to sell on my website. I even created a super cool DIY project with some of them recently—I linked it below!

8. Aluminum Measuring Cups

I always pick these up when I spot them! You can check out a fun project I created using aluminum measuring cups here: How To Upcycle Old Metal Measuring Cups

Ways to style:

  • These aluminum measuring cups are so versatile! Hang them on a hook in your kitchen for a vintage touch.
  • You can also group them in a set and style them on a shelf, or create a charming vignette by arranging them alongside other items and figurines.

9. Piano Rolls

Vintage piano rolls add instant character and charm to any space. Whether you’re a music lover or just adore the vintage aesthetic, these rolls bring timeless warmth to your decor.

Ways to style:

  • Display them in an old dough bowl or wire basket on a coffee table for a simple, collected look.
  • Stack a few on a shelf or mantel alongside antique books and candlesticks to create a nostalgic vignette.
  • For a more creative touch, unroll one partially and frame it as unique wall art—its aged paper and punched notes tell a story all their own.
  • I used them as artwork in my home, creating a custom wooden holder and hanging them on the wall. I have also unrolled them and hung them on the wall. I love that you can see the beautiful paper and typography.
