First, I grabbed all of the materials I needed to create these beautiful rustic Christmas ornaments. Starting with these wood fence board pieces that I had in my stash.

Next, I used my cordless drill to put two holes in the upper corners of each fence board piece.

For this project, I decided to use the NEW Holiday Release IOD Collection Moulds to create clay decorative pieces on the front of the wood ornaments.
For the first one, I used the Santa taper from the Christmas Tapers IOD Mould.

To prevent sticking, I used a Dixie Belle French Tip Brush to dust the moulds with a light coating of cornstarch.

Next, I grabbed IOD Air Dry Clay and pressed it into the mold using my thumbs. For this project, I only applied clay to the top sections of the tapers.
Once the clay was pressed into the mold, I used my thumbs to remove any excess by smoothing it along the micro edges. Then, I gently bent the mold and peeled the Santa head clay piece out.

The Santa head turned out almost perfect! I just had to remove a bit of excess clay and used my finger to smooth out the edges at the bottom.

The collection features not only stunning Christmas tapers but also charming angelic tapers with adorable little angels. For the second one, I used the Angelic Tapers IOD Mould.

Once I had all of the clay moulds that I wanted I set those aside so I could prepare the wood ornaments.
I decided to use jute twine to create a hanger so that these could be hung. The jute twine complements the rustic look I was going for, but you could absolutely use ribbon, rusty wire, or anything else you have on hand for a different vibe.

First, I looped the jute twine through each hole and tied it so that there was a loop.

Next, I used gorilla glue to glue the clay pieces to the wood.

I applied Gorilla Glue to the back of the clay Santa and then carefully positioned it in the center of the wood piece. I continued this step for all of the clay pieces.

For the final touch, I used my hot glue gun to add little sprigs of greenery to the wood boards.

One of my favorite combinations is IOD air dry clay and wood. They just pair so perfectly together and give a beautiful rustic look for Christmas.
You can use these as ornaments or just small pieces of Christmas decor!

These handmade ornaments combine the beauty of IOD Air Dry Clay and wood, creating timeless pieces for the holiday season.
