I found these adorable pears at Goodwill, but the original color just wasn’t my style.

I noticed the leaves were actual metal, and I loved the touch of gold, so I decided to keep those as they were.

To get started, I used painter’s tape to carefully cover all the gold leaves, so they didn’t get paint on them while I worked on the rest of the project.

Next, I knew I wanted to use Fusion Milk Paint in the color Gustavian. I love the soft, vintage feel of this shade! I got started by mixing the paint with water, following the instructions to create the perfect consistency.

If you have never used milk paint before – all you have to do is mix half paint powder and half water.

Then you mix it together!

Using a STAALMEESTER Point Sash Brush, I applied 1 coat of milk paint over the entire pear.

I dabbed on the paint so that it was super thick.

When working with milk paint, applying it super thick is the key to achieving an extra chippy finish.

Next, grab your heat gun and dry the paint. Drying it in place with plenty of texture helps the paint chip even faster, creating that desired chippy effect.

You can use sandpaper or wet distress the paint for a more controlled finish. However, I simply used my fingers to gently rub the paint, and it gave me the exact look I was going for!

You’ll definitely want to seal all of the chalk paint to ensure it lasts.

This Dixie Belle Clear Coat – Flat is now my absolute favorite! I’ve tried so many different clear coat options, but they always seem to alter the final look. This one truly delivers a matte finish, just as promised. I highly recommend it!

I’m so happy with how this project turned out—it’s exactly what I envisioned! What do you think? Leave a comment below, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
