I actually got the idea for this blog at an estate sale! I came across some decoupaged baskets, and while the design wasn’t quite my style, they sparked an idea. I couldn’t wait to try my own version!

I used a basket that I already had on hand and the IOD Garden Bouquet stamp collection.

The IOD Garden Bouquet stamp collection is full of beautiful large florals. The large look of these stamps is perfect for filling up this wicker basket.

I used an empty ink pad, IOD China Blue ink and white tissue paper to create my decoupage paper. First, I inked up the stamp.

Then, I pressed the stamp onto the white tissue paper, repeating the process until the entire page was covered. Normally, I would use a thin mount for stamping, but since these stamps are so large, I decided to skip it this time.

For this project, I stamped 2 pages of tissue paper. I didn’t worry too much about creating a perfect pattern—I simply kept stamping until the entire page was filled. Look at how beautiful this paper turned out! I was so happy with this result!

Next, I grabbed my bottle of Mod Podge so that I could start applying the tissue paper to the basket.

Using a STAALMEESTER Pointed Sash Brush I applied a coat of Mod Podge onto the basket.

Then, I laid the tissue paper over that section of the basket and gently pressed it into the Mod Podge. You will want to be careful when handling the paper to avoid any tears.

Moving around the entire basket I applied more Mod Podge and then pressed the paper into the basket.

It’s okay if some of the paper overlaps—it adds to the overall decoupage look. However, I did use scissors to trim excess paper when it seemed necessary.

Using the same method as above, I covered both of the side pieces. I decided not to put decoupage paper on the handle and leave it bare.

And this is the finished look! I love how it gives off French Country Cottage vibes.

It turned out even better than I expected! I decided to style it on a shelf with a yellow Late Bloomer Half Sphere, a wooden cutting board, and a dainty cotton towel.
